Call for Abstracts

Present your research at the Indian Wildlife Ecology
Conference 2026 (IWEC 26)

We invite submissions of abstracts for oral and poster presentations on topics related to Indian wildlife ecology. Please read the following guidelines carefully before submitting your abstracts. Submissions that do not adhere to the following guidelines will not be considered.

At the time of submission, you may indicate your preference for Symposia or Open Sessions.

Abstracts for oral presentations

  • Abstracts must be in English and should not exceed 200 words.
  • A title that does not exceed 20 words.
  • The presentation should contain at least some unpublished findings. Results published before 2020 should not form a significant part of the presentation except in the case of long-term ecological questions.
  • The abstract should comprehensively summarize the entire presentation, providing a clear and concise overview of the research’s purpose, methodology, results, and conclusions.
  • You can submit only one abstract as the first author.
  • List all authors, include full affiliation details for each, and clearly identify the presenting author.
  • Abstracts submitted for symposia and open sessions will be shortlisted based on relevance to the conference, academic rigour, and novelty, while ensuring diversity and inclusivity across topics, institutions, and regions.
  • Final selection of the presentation is subject to the applicant completing the registration process and paying the fees. Registration opens in early April 2026.

Abstracts for Poster Sessions

IWEC 2026 has 75 poster slots for presenters who wish to share their research as a poster. This is a good opportunity for researchers to quickly showcase their work and get to interact with an audience on a one-to-one basis.

Please read the following guidelines before submitting abstracts for presentation under the poster sessions:

  • You can submit only one abstract for the poster sessions as the first author.
  • Abstracts must be in English and should not exceed 200 words.
  • A title that does not exceed 20 words.
  • The abstract should comprehensively summarize the entire poster, providing a clear and concise overview of the research’s purpose, methodology, results, and conclusions.
  • List all authors, include full affiliation details for each, and clearly identify the presenting author. Presenting authors must have previously sought consent of all authors to share this work.
  • Abstracts will be shortlisted by domain experts based on relevance to the conference, academic rigour, and novelty, while also considering diversity and inclusivity across topics, institutions, and regions.
  • Final selection of poster presentation is subject to the applicant completing the registration process and paying the registration fees.

Ajith Kumar Opportunity Grant

The Ajith Kumar Opportunity Grant is in honour of Dr. Ajith Kumar, a leading Indian primatologist and the Convener of the founding Indian Wildlife Ecology Conference. Dr. Kumar’s legacy includes a strong commitment to supporting students to attend conferences to become part of the growing ecological community in India.

If you wish to apply for this grant, please complete the form below and note the following:

  • Please illustrate how the grant would advance your career goals, contributions, or access to opportunities in their field.
  • The application will be considered only if you are presenting at the conference (in a Symposia, Open Session, Poster Session, or SIG)
  • Please provide details of the budget required to attend the conference.
  • Please note that accommodation at the venue will be provided by IWEC’26 and accommodation costs may not be included in the budget.
  • The Conference Organisers will inform you of the outcome of your request in advance of the registration deadline.
