10th To 12th July, 2026
Ashoka University, Haryana
The Ajith Kumar Award for Outstanding Research Paper in Ecology is instituted in honor of Dr. Ajith Kumar's efforts to promote ecological research in India.
This award is intended to be a prestigious recognition of an outstanding research paper in field-based ecology from India. It seeks to honor work that combines originality, scientific rigor, and engagement with Indian ecological systems, reflecting the spirit of Dr. Ajith Kumar's scholarship and commitment to natural history and field ecology.
The selection process will involve an initial round of nominations by a committee, followed by deliberation by a jury. The committee will consider papers published in the last five years and prepare a shortlist based on their scientific quality, contribution to ecological understanding, and relevance to field-based ecology in India. The shortlisted papers will then be placed before the jury, which will make the final selection.
This year's award will be announced at the conference, so stay tuned!
We are delighted to announce the second iteration of the Indian Wildlife Ecology Conference (IWEC26) to be held from July 10 – 12, 2026, at Ashoka University, Sonipat, Haryana!
Building on the success of the inaugural Indian Wildlife Ecology Conference hosted by the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) in June 2024, IWEC continues the momentum to bring together researchers, practitioners and institutions engaged
in wildlife ecology across India.
Dedication: We would like to take this moment to remember and celebrate the late Dr. Ajith Kumar, whose vision, energy, and mentorship were central to the genesis of IWEC. With Ajith’s passing, we lost a passionate voice for the science and conservation of India’s wildlife and natural ecosystems. As we prepare for IWEC26, we are committed to honoring and carrying forward this legacy.
