Call for symposium proposals

About the Symposia and Guidelines

IWEC `24 is delighted to invite you to propose symposia for the upcoming conference on Indian wildlife ecology scheduled for 14–16th June 2024 at the National Centre for Biological Sciences, Bangalore. The symposia will reflect the broad goals of the conference, which is to bring together researchers of Indian wildlife ecology to discuss contemporary and emerging issues in wildlife ecology, share research, forge collaborations, and ideate future directions.

We plan to have 9 symposia over three days with 3 symposia running in parallel each day. We expect the symposia to:

    • Align with the goal of the conference.
    • Represent different perspectives on the topic of the symposium, conceptual advances, and challenges.
    • Have the potential for inclusivity of gender, ethnicity, institutions, and career stages.
    • Identify opportunities for collaborations and networking; and
    • Appeal to the specialists as well as those with a general interest in the topic.
  • The symposium should be proposed by a Chair and Co-Chair.
  • The limit for symposium proposals is 250 words.
  • A symposium will last 135 minutes with 6 presentations, each of 20 minutes including discussion.
  • All proposals for symposia will be reviewed by the Science Committee within two weeks of the last date for submission (15 January 2024).
  • All presentations should be in-person except in rare cases at the discretion of the Chair and with sufficient notice to the conference Convenors.
  • You can submit up to 2 symposia proposals but only one will be accepted after review of both proposals.
  • Following successful symposium proposals, the call to submit abstracts for presentations will be announced. These will be reviewed by the Chair/Co-Chair of the symposium.
  • Final acceptance of the symposium proposal is contingent upon payment of registration fees (to be announced) by the Chairs. However, there is limited need-based travel and local hospitality support available.

Symposium submissions are closed. We are now accepting abstracts for presentations under symposia, open sessions, and poster sessions. Please visit the abstracts submission page for more details.
